Why Montenegro

A small, coherent market with a single tender stream.

Montenegro has a population of 620,000 and a centralised public-procurement system. One tender stream — administered through CInMED, Montefarm, KCCG, and the regional general hospitals — covers approximately 95% of public spend on medical devices. The 2019 Law on Medical Devices is aligned with the EU Medical Device Regulation (2017/745). Montenegro uses the euro, removing FX risk for principals priced in EUR.

For a foreign manufacturer, this means a market that is small in absolute volume but legibly structured: one regulator, one dominant tender pipeline, and a referenceable distributor footprint. Inter Pharm has been operating in this market since 16 March 2015 — a real history with global brands rather than a new entrant.

Geographic scope

Where Inter Pharm distributes today.

Today: Montenegro only.

Every account, tender, and clinical contact described on this site is inside Montenegro. We do not currently cover Albania, Kosovo, or Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we do not represent any partner in those markets.

Planned: Serbia.

Serbia coverage is on our roadmap. When Serbian distribution is contracted, this page is updated to describe the actual scope — not before.

What we do

FAQ

Common questions from BD scouts.

How long does CInMED registration take for a new device?
Inter Pharm holds an active CInMED wholesale licence (number 2050/22/482/2-6492) covering medicines and medical devices, with cold-chain authorisation. Adding a new product to our scope is a documentation exercise rather than a fresh licensing project — typical timelines run 4–8 weeks depending on the device class and the completeness of the technical file.
Do you handle public-tender submission?
Yes. Inter Pharm participates in tenders issued by the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG), Montefarm, the Ministry of Health, and the seven regional general hospitals (Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Kotor, Bar, Cetinje, Berane, Pljevlja). We prepare submission packs end-to-end — translations, certifications, evidence of authorised distribution — and respond on the principal's behalf.
Do you cover Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, or Serbia?
Today, Inter Pharm distributes inside Montenegro only. Serbia coverage is planned for the near future. We do not currently distribute in Albania, Kosovo, or Bosnia and Herzegovina.
What is your minimum-volume expectation?
Volume expectations are agreed per partnership. Montenegro is a focused market — population 620,000 with a single coherent tender stream — so we evaluate each opportunity on clinical fit and tender alignment rather than against a generic floor.
Are you ISO certified?
Yes. Inter Pharm holds ISO 9001:2015 (certificate 24-A-2817 Rev.0) and ISO 14001:2015 (certificate 24-C-1576 Rev.0). Both were issued on 9 July 2024 by Global Inter Certification (an IAS-accredited certification body, MSCB-108) and are publicly verifiable through IAFCertSearch — links and PDFs are on the Quality & Certifications page.
What references can you offer?
We currently distribute 28 global brands across 10 specialties to every public and private hospital in Montenegro. We are happy to introduce existing principals as references on request, subject to their consent.
